Well, here goes my first attempt at "Blogging". My goal in starting this blog is simple; I am passionate to help people better understand the effects of the overeating of salt. Throughout my career, I've seen too many good people suffer from the effects of diseases such as hypertension, heart failure, heart attacks, and kidney disease where simple behavior and diet modificiations most likely would have made for a better quality and longer life. I want to make a difference through this website, my book, and community presentations.

Last Tuesday, I had the opportunity to hear Joe Montana and Dr. Rippe do a presentation on hypertension and low sodium eating. They offer a great resource for people with high blood pressure to receive campaign educational materials that provide information and tips to improve blood pressure levels, as well as a record keeper and handy reminder magnet. A Web site, http://www.takethepressureoff.com, offers additional information and helps users assess their blood pressure risk. To order a free brochure, patients can call (877) GET-BP-DOWN (877-438-2736) or visit the campaign Web site.

Stay tuned, in this blog I plan to include many more resources, information and recipes for people interested in managing their salt intake.

I applaud you for getting the word out about the health benefits of lowering salt in our diet through your web site and new book. Thanks!

I heard that there is a connection between a high salt diet and ulcers. Is there any truth to a salt-ulcer relationship?
