Here's another good reason to eat a managed, reduced sodium diet! As the comment below notes, a link has been shown between a high salt diet and ulcers.

A recent news article in the BBC news reported that a high salt diet has been linked to increase in ulcers as well as stomach cancer. The results were presented at the recent American Society for Microbiology conference. Experts suggest that salt in the diet and H. Pylori may interact to increase the risk of stomach ulcers. H. pylori is a bacterium that lives in the stomach and is responsible for most stomach and upper intestinal ulcers. The researchers think that a diet high in salt enables the H. pylori bacterium to survive in the stomach.

Did you know? Corn tortillas typically have less sodium than flour tortillas!

When I go to Japanese restaurants I often see containers of soy sauce on the table with different colored tops, either red or green. Does the color of the top have anything to do with the amount of salt in that container of soy sauce? Thank you.
